David Bowie, a singer, songwriter, and actor, was born on 8 January 1947, in Brixton, London, England, and died on 10 January 2016 in New York City, United States. For five decades, he became a figure in popular music.

He became acclaimed by critics and other musicians for his good work. During his whole life time, his record sales were at 140 million albums all over the world which made him one of the best-selling music artist all over the world.

In the UK, he was given nine platinum album certifications, eight silver, and eleven gold by releasing eleven number one albums. He won seven gold certifications and five platinum certification in the United States. In 1996, he was known as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

As a child, he began his interest in the music. He studied music, art, and design before beginning his professional career in 1963 as a musician. He recorded a song titled Space Oddity which was successful to become a top-five entry on the UK Singles Chart.

He made his appearance in the 1976 cult film titled The Man Who Fell to Earth which was directed by Nicolas Roeg and was premiered on 1976, Station to Station. After a year, he released album Low. His album reached the UK top five and got lasting critical praise.

After a long time, he released his album titled The Next Day. Before his death, he premiered his last album in 2016 titled Blackstar.

He was born and grown up in Brixton, South London, England. He was the son of Margaret Mary Peggy, a waitress, and Haywood Stenton John Jones, a promotions officer for Barnardo, children’s charity. His birth name was David Robert Jones.

Until the age of six, he went to Stockwell Infants School. He moved to the suburb of Bromerly in 1953 with his family. He studied music, design, and art, including typesetting and layout.

On 9 March 1970, he married Mary Angela Barneyy in Bromley, London at Bromley Register Office. The couple has a son born on May 30, 1971. The couple divorced on February 8, 1980, in Switzerland.

He married Iman, American Model on 24 April 1992 in a private ceremony in Lausanne. The couple has a daughter born on August 2000.

He died two days after his birthday at the age of 69 on January 10, 2016, in his New York City Apartment. The main cause of his death was liver cancer.
